SAN FRANCISCO-- In a vote of the Pac-12 coaches UCLA closer David Berg was named the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year, ARIZONA second baseman Scott Kingery was named the Pac-12 Player of the Year, Bruin Head Coach John Savage earned Pac-12 Coach of the Year honors, OREGON STATE first baseman KJ Harrison was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and USC catcher Garrett Stubbs was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year.

Pac-12 Player of the Year, Individual Batting Champion - Scott Kingery, ARIZONA
A Golden Spikes semifinalist, he became the first two-time batting champion since Brett Wallace in 2007-08, batting .392 with a conference-best 53 runs. He also ranked second in slugging (.561). He was also a member of the all-defensive team, leading the Pac-12 with 192 assists at second base.

Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year David Berg, UCLA
One of the premier closers in the country, Berg led the Pac-12 in ERA at 0.73 and also ranked third with 12 saves. He is a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award, given to the top player in the country. He is one of only three players as a four-time first team all-Pac-12 selection, joining Cal’s Lance Blankenship (1983-86) and OSU’s Pete Rowe (1974-77).

Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year Garrett Stubbs, USC
Stubbs threw out 54% of would-be base stealers behind the plate for the Trojans. He also ranked seventh in the Pac-12 in batting at .330. The Pac-12 all-defensive outfield was the same for the second-straight year in ARIZONA STATE’s Johnny Sewald, OSU’s Jeff Hendrix and WASHINGTON’s Braden Bishop.

Pac-12 Freshman of the Year KJ Harrison, OREGON STATE
Harrison led the Pac-12 with 58 RBIs for the second place Beavers to go along with his .314 average and 10 homers.

Pac-12 Coach of the Year John Savage, UCLA
Savage led the Bruins to their third Pac-12 title in five seasons and the No. 1 overall seed at 42-14. This is Savage’s first coaching honor for the Pac-12.

UCLA and Arizona State garnered the most players on the 32-man first team with six a piece. Along with Berg’s four selections, ARIZONA STATE’s Ryan Kellogg and ARIZONA’s Kevin Newman were three-time first team selections.
