Sun Devil Volleyball's 2015 Class Ranked 20th Nationally

TEMPE, Ariz.—Arizona State volleyball’s incoming freshman class was ranked at No. 20 in the nation by PrepVolleyball.com, the website announced on Thursday.

"Our 2015 class and its rank are the result of a lot of work between our staff, our administration, and academic coach,” head coach Jason Watson said. “Together, what we are doing at ASU resonates with these wonderfully talented student-athletes."

The incoming class includes Kierstin Fowler (MB/Flagstaff, Ariz./Coconino HS), Kyle Pickrell (S/Dallas, Texas/Coppell HS), Jasmine Koonts (MB/Houston, Texas/Klein HS), Lexi MacLean (OH/Frisco, Texas/Centennial HS), and Tia Philippart (MB/Carlsbad, Calif./La Costa Canyon HS).

"I'm anxious to begin the 2015 season,” Watson said. “Excited about the depth and talent in our 2015 class and eager to blend them with our returners.  There is a lot to be excited about."

In 2014, ASU (20-14, 9-11 Pac-12) earned its third consecutive NCAA Tournament berth, and advanced to the second round of competition for the first time since 2006. Outside hitter Macey Gardner became ASU’s first AVCA All-American since 2000, and also became the first Sun Devil to earn three Pac-12 All-Conference honors since Christine Garner (1993, 1994, and 1995).

ASU announced the 2015 non-conference schedule on Friday, May 22. The Sun Devils will open the season in Colorado Springs, Colo., with matches against Northeastern, Air Force, and New Mexico State on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 28-29.

The Pac-12 Conference portion of the 2015 schedule, along with television information for the season, will be announced on Monday, June 15.
