TEMPE, Ariz.—Arizona State track and field’s redshirt senior Alex Hartig was named to the Captial One Academic All-America Division I Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country Second Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday.

A four-time Pac-12 All-Academic First Teamer and three-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree, Hartig earned her Master’s in Accounting with a 4.0 GPA. In May, Hartig was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for District VIII, ASU’s first honoree since 2011.

A native of Great Bend, Kan., Hartig led ASU in the shot put with her best of 16.66m (54-8.00), which she threw at the Duel In The Desert. The mark is the No. 6 in program history, and she also owns the No. 2 javelin mark in ASU lore at 47.89m (157-01), which she threw in 2014.

Hartig is the first female Academic All-American for the Sun Devils since CJ Navarro earned Second Team honors in 2012. John Kline (First Team), Jamie Sandys (Second Team), and Nick Happe (Third Team) also earned Academic All-America honors in 2012.
