Bears Place 10 On ACWPC All-Academic Team

BERKELEY – The Cal women’s water polo team placed a whopping 10 student-athletes on the 2015 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches All-Academic Team that was released Friday night.

Freshman Kindred Paul led the way by earning an Outstanding certificate for having a GPA between 3.71 and 4.00. Junior Molly Quinn, sophomore Genevieve Weed and freshman Carla Carrega were selected to the Superior category for having a GPA between 3.41 and 3.70. Sophomore Stephanie Mutafyan, junior Pippa Saunders, sophomore Roser Tarrago, junior Brooke Vowell, senior Kelly McKee and sophomore Madeline Trabucco each earned Excellent status with GPAs between 3.20 and 3.40.

It was the second year in a row that Quinn, Weed and McKee were named to the team.

In May, the Bears placed nine on the MPSF All-Academic Team, for which freshmen are ineligible.

The 10 selections to the ACWPC All-Academic Team are Cal’s most since having 13 student-athletes earn the honor in 2010.
