Bruin Tennis Players Open Up Action at World University Games
GWANGJU, Korea - UCLA tennis players opened up action at the 2015 World University Games this weekend, helping Team USA get off to a solid start at the international event.

On the women's side, both Chanelle Van Nguyen and Kaitlin Ray didn't drop a game in their opening-round singles matches on July 4. Van Nguyen was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Ronah Ntembe of Uganda, while Ray won by the same score over Nzingha Banks of Anguilla. On Sunday, Van Nguyen posted another win, downing China's Xu Liu Sun, 6-3, 6-4. Ray was playing her second-round match later on Sunday.

In the men's draw, Martin Redlicki received a bye in the first round and opened up play in Sunday's second round where he downed Brazil's Victor Cruz Morales, 6-4, 6-3. Austin Rapp, who did not have the luxury of a first-round bye, fell in Saturday's opening round, suffering a 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 loss to Mexico's Julio Cesar Vasquez.

Rapp and Redlicki are also teaming together in doubles and won their their opening-round match on Sunday over Brazil's Thiago Bitencourt and Cruz Morales, 6-1, 6-2.
