UCLA Basketball Involved in NBA Summer Leagues

UCLA Basketball Involved in NBA Summer Leagues
Three former UCLA basketball players – Jordan Adams, Kyle Anderson and David Wear – are competing in NBA Summer Leagues in Orlando and Utah this week.

Additional former UCLA players are expected to compete at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, which runs from July 10-20. Complete rosters for teams in Las Vegas have not been finalized.

Adams just finished his rookie season with the Memphis Grizzlies and is competing for Memphis’ summer league team in Orlando. Anderson also concluded his first NBA season with the San Antonio Spurs and is set to play for San Antonio’s summer league squad in Utah. Wear, who played in two games for the Sacramento Kings as a rookie last season, is playing for the Detroit Pistons’ summer league team in Orlando.

Adams scored a team-leading 20 points in his first summer league game with Memphis last Saturday before sitting out of Sunday’s game. The former first-team All-Pac-12 guard connected on 5 of 14 field goal attempts and made all 10 free throws in an 81-73 victory for Memphis on Saturday. As an NBA rookie last season, Adams averaged 3.1 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.5 assists in 30 games. He starred in the Bruins’ starting lineup during each of his two seasons at UCLA (2012-13, 2014-15).

Anderson’s summer league schedule begins Monday, when the San Antonio Spurs take on the Philadelphia 76ers at 4:00 pm (PT). As an NBA rookie in 2014-15, Anderson averaged 2.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game in 33 contests. Like Adams, Anderson was a two-year starter for the Bruins in 2012-13 and 2014-15.

Wear has played in each of Detroit’s first two Orlando Summer League contests, making one start. The former three-year UCLA letterwinner has averaged 4.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in 19.0 minutes per game. Last summer, Wear competed in five NBA Summer League games (Las Vegas) with the Chicago Bulls, averaging 4.8 points and 2.0 rebounds per contest.
