Weaver Set to Compete at U.S Women?s Open

TUCSON, Ariz. - Rising senior golfer Lindsey Weaver will compete at the 2015 U.S Women's Open later this week. Held at the Lancaster Country Club in Lancaster, Pa., the championship will begin with practice rounds Mon.-Wed, July 6-8. Competition will take place Thurs.-Sun., July 9-12.

Weaver advanced to the U.S. Women's Open with her win at a qualifier at Superstition Golf and Country Club, in Phoenix, in May. She shot rounds of 68 and 69 to finish at 137 (-5), four strokes ahead of the remainder of the field.

Weaver was an All-Pac-12 First-Team honoree, a WGCA Second-Team All-American, and a Golfweek Second-Team All-American for the 2014-15 season. She was the Pac-12 runner-up and finished third at the NCAA Regional Championships. The Wildcats finished tied for fifth at the NCAA Championships after winning the 2015 Pac-12 title.

During the 2014-15 season, Weaver led Wildcats in stroke average (72.97), lowest tournament (206, -10) and had the most top-10 finishes (six).

The U.S. Women's Open is the oldest championship to include professional and amateur golfers. Weaver is one of 1,873 competitors for 2015, a USGA record (1,702 golfers in 2014).
