Roundup: Former Cal swimmer sets Pan Am Games record

California

Former Cal swimmer Caitlin Leverenz broke the Pan American Games record in the 400m IM Thursday with a time of 4:37.74, breaking the previous record of 4:38.46 that was set in 1999.

Utah

Charges have been dropped against Dominique Hatfield, the dismissed Utah cornerback who was charged with aggravated battery and theft. Kyle Whittingham released this statement this morning:

“We are relieved that Dominique has been exonerated of the charges against him, but that does not necessarily impact the disciplinary actions we imposed due to a violation of team rules. There is, however, the possibility of future reinstatement to our team if he is able to meet certain expectations we have in place for our student-athletes.”

Oregon

Oregon running back Royce Freeman is on the Walter Camp Award watch list. Dude had 1,365 rushing yards to along with 18 TDs on the ground… as a true freshman.

UCLA

Meanwhile, UCLA football’s Myles Jack and Paul Perkins are on the Walter Camp watch list as well. The award goes to the top player in college football.

Washington

Percy Allen had the Q&A with dude earlier, now he posts a feature on Washington basketball incoming freshman Dejounte Murray and how he is showing leadership traits already through summer pickup games. He’s considered the prized piece of the Dawgs’ recruiting class that is ranked sixth in the nation by Scout.com.
