2015 Maui Invitational Bracket Revealed
LOS ANGELES – The UCLA men’s basketball team will face UNLV in its first game of the 2015 Maui Jim Maui Invitational at the Lahaina Civic Center on the island of Maui on Monday, Nov. 23.

UCLA’s game versus UNLV will be nationally televised by ESPN2, slated for tipoff at 6:30 p.m. HT/8:30 p.m. PT. The eight-team bracket was announced earlier Tuesday by ESPN.com.

The Bruins will face either Kansas or Chaminade on Tuesday, Nov. 24, the second day of the three-day tournament. The four teams on the opposite side of the bracket from UCLA include St. John’s, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and Indiana. UCLA will play one of those four schools on Wednesday, Nov. 25.

UCLA went 22-14 last season, advancing to the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16 for the second straight season. With head coach Steve Alford entering his third year at UCLA (his 25th year as a collegiate head coach), the Bruins will return three of their five starters from one year ago and four of last season’s top six scorers. UCLA’s returning starters include junior guards Bryce Alford (15.4 ppg) and Isaac Hamilton (10.6 ppg) and senior center Tony Parker (10.6 ppg).

The Bruins have gone 4-0 all-time against UNLV, with all four contests taking place during the 1990s. Most recently, UCLA defeated UNLV by a 72-67 margin in Pauley Pavilion on Dec. 12, 1998.

UNLV went 18-15 last year, posting an 8-10 record in the Mountain West Conference. The Runnin’ Rebels finished seventh out of 11 teams in the regular-season Mountain West standings. UNLV is led by head coach Dave Rice, who is entering his fifth season as the program’s head coach.

Each of UCLA’s games in Maui will be televised live on either ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU.

This will mark UCLA’s fifth appearance in the annual tournament, the Bruins’ first since 2011. UCLA previously won the Maui Invitational in 2006.
