Jones Signs With Sweden's Mor?n BK

July 29, 2015 | Soccer

SKELLEFTEÅ, Sweden – University of Colorado soccer alumna Bianca Jones has signed a professional contract with Morön BK in Skellefteå, Sweden.

“I am so blessed to have this opportunity in beautiful Sweden,” said Jones. “My goal was to always play after college, but actually signing an official contract seemed surreal. After my two knee surgeries, a lot of rehab and help from the wonderful staff in the CU Athletic Department, my dream of playing after school was realized and I truly couldn't be more grateful.”

Jones, who graduated this past May, has already joined her new team for training sessions and could make her professional debut as early as Saturday, Aug. 1.

“The team has been so welcoming, generous and nice, and has made the transition incredibly smooth,” Jones added. “I am looking forward to the chance to continue playing the game that I love and focusing on getting better every day.”

The Aurora, Colo. native was an anchor on the Buffaloes' defense during her four-year (2011-14) career. Jones played in 83 of a possible 84 matches, tied for eighth most all-time in program history, totaling 6,990 minutes that ranks fifth most in the CU record book. She finished with two goals, three assists and had 14 shots. A co-captain in her senior season, Jones helped the Buffs shut out a combined 32 opponents over her career, including a program-record tying 12 shutouts during CU's 2014 campaign.

Jones was also recognized by the Pac-12 Conference for her achievements in the classroom, earning back-to-back All-Academic Honorable Mention awards as a junior and senior. She earned her degree in finance and human resource management.

“This is a great place for Bianca to start her professional career,” said Colorado head coach Danny Sanchez. “She has put in a lot of work since her senior season and we are excited that she is able to continue playing. [Assistant coach] Jason [Green] has worked closely with Bianca to secure this opportunity. We wish her the best and know that she will do well.”
