Roundup: Bowl game or bust for the Buffs

The theme coming out of Colorado football media day is that it’s bowl game or bust for the Buffs in 2015 (Ralphie Report). Colorado has to win seven games this year because of its 13-game schedule (playing Hawai’i allows you to do that).

Wait… Is Oregon going to wear glow-in-the-dark uniforms this year? Please tell me the answer is “yes.” Check out some of the tweets from Oregon in this Sports Illustrated link. How awesome would these unis be?

Coaches around the conference picked Stanford women’s soccer to win the Pac-12 Monday. UCLA is picked to finish second, while Cal and USC are tied for third in the preseason poll.

Oregon State

Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports lists his four reasons of optimism for Cal football in 2015. The Golden Bears certainly appear to be trending in the right direction.

UCLA linebacker Myles Jack thinks it’s time for the Bruins to win a championship, the Los Angeles Times’ Chris Foster reports. The Bruins opened fall camp Monday.

The ESPN College Football Nation crew discusses how a hypothetical matchup between Auburn and USC might go. It’s Pac-12 vs. SEC Challenge week for CFB Nation.

Kevin Gemmell features Arizona defensive coordinator Jeff Casteel and the job he’s done in Tucson. The ESPN Pac-12 Blogger believes Casteel has the Cats going in the right direction on that side of the ball (and has the evidence to prove it). Also, Arizona football center Carter Wood is out for the season with a chronic foot injury. As a redshirt senior, he has likely played his last down for Arizona.

Adam Jude features Washington quarterback K.J. Carta-Samuels, who just might win the starting gig. #GoBells

Cory Butler took reps at cornerback for Utah Monday, but who knows where he’ll spend the majority of his time this year – Butler is also listed atop the depth chart at slot receiver (he would prefer to be a corner).

Washington State

Jacob Thorpe discusses the nickelback position at Washington State. New defensive coordinator Alex Grinch has put in a fifth defensive back (replacing a linebacker) in his scheme.
