Catherine Conti becomes first female Pac-12 football official
From Jen Welter’s coaching internship with the Arizona Cardinals to Nicki Gross’ promotion to assistant coach for the Iowa Energy of the NBA Development League to Stephanie Ready being named as a full-time game analyst for the Charlotte Hornets, 2015 has been a banner year for female advancement in male-dominated sports leagues.
So it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that the Utah-Michigan game Thursday night featured a female official: Catherine Conti, who was the head linesman (linesperson?) and made a good impression:
That was a good, definitive incomplete call on the catch OB by head lines judge Catherine Conti, one of the few female officials in FBS.

Conti was the first female official to work a Big 12 football game in 2014 and also has worked NFL preseason games. She is the first woman official ever to work a Pac-12 game.
