Bohkua Falls In ITA All-American Main Draw Round Of 32

October 09, 2015 | Tennis

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Tina Bohkua, a sophomore on the University of Colorado women's tennis team, fell to Stanford's Carolina Doyle in the first round of the main draw here at the ITA Riviera Women's All-American Tennis Championships.

Bohkua fell by scores of 6-1, 6-2, to Doyle, who's ranked the No. 17 player in the country in the preseason ITA rankings of Sept. 15.

“This is great experience and exposure for Tina at this level,” CU coach Nicole Kenneally said. “Obviously to get a win at this tournament would be huge, so we will be looking to put our best foot forward tomorrow.  When she is feeling it, she can play with any of these players.”

Bohkua now enters the back draw of the tournament and will face No. 5 ranked Josie Kuhlman from Florida at 2:45 p.m. MT on Friday.  Kuhlman fell to Miami's Shead Lohan, ranked No. 13 nationally, by a score of 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 on Thursday.

Kuhlman was the No. 4 seed in the main draw and is the No. 2 seed in the back draw.

Bokhua is just the second player under Kenneally to get to the main draw of this event, and the first to be selected directly into it.  Should she win tomorrow, she will be the first player to win a main draw match at the event under Kenneally.
