Scouting the Aztecs
The San Diego State Aztecs enter the weekend with an overall record of 5-3-2 and 0-2-0 in the Pac-12 Conference. On the road this season, the Aztecs have posted a 1-2-1 record, including two losses last weekend. San Diego State opened Pac-12 play with back-to-back losses at Washington and Oregon State. Overall, the Aztecs have dropped three of their last four matches after starting the season 4-0-2. The offense is led by Rene Reyes who has a team-high 11 points on four goals and three assists. Reyes' point total ranks T-4th in the conference, just one point back of the leaders. In net, Adam Allmaras has started eight of 10 games, posting a 0.83 GAA with 15 saves.

UCLA holds a 38-4-11 all-time record against San Diego State and have not lost to the Aztecs in 15 consecutive matches. Over that stretch, the Bruins are 11-0-4 and are currently riding a 10-game win streak. Since San Diego State joined the Pac-12 in 2005, the Bruins are 13-1-6 in 20 contests. The last loss for UCLA to the Aztecs came on October 6, 2007.

Weekend In Review
The Bruins opened their Pac-12 Conference schedule last weekend and split a pair of road matches at Oregon State and Washington. UCLA began with Oregon State on Friday, October 2 and took the Beavers to double overtime. Despite a golden chance at the end of the first overtime period for the Bruins, they fell to Oregon State in the second overtime period on a goal by Timmy Mueller, 1-0. The loss ended a streak of 19 consecutive matches against the Beavers without a defeat for the Bruins. On Sunday, October 4, UCLA bounced back to defeat the Washington Huskies, 3-2, in double overtime. A trio of penalty kicks for the Bruins proved fruitful and led to the road victory. Freshman Jose Hernandez scored twice, including the game-winner, while fellow rookie Jackson Yueill netted the other goal.

Jones and Yueill Called to U-20 MNT
UCLA freshmen Malcolm Jones and Jackson Yueill are two of 21 players that have been called to represent the U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team at the Four Nations Tournament in Germany. The team was defeated by Germany in the tournament opener on Oct. 6 and will look to bounce back against Scotland on Oct. 9, before concluding against Mexico on Oct. 12. Both Jones and Yueill have extensive National Team experience, each serving as consistent members of the U.S. Under-18 Men's National Team before coming to campus this fall. The call to the U-20's represents the first such call-up to this level for both players. In the history of the program, UCLA players have logged 476 international caps for the U.S. U-20 Men's National Team, led by Carlos Bocanegra's 23.

Adekoya Leads Offensive Attack
UCLA sophomore striker Seyi Adekoya is getting hot quickly for the Bruin offense. After scoring four goals in three games two weeks ago, Adekoya was named the Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week. His four goals brought his season-total to six, which leads the Pac-12 and ranks T-23rd in the nation. After not scoring in the team's first four games, Adekoya racked up all six goals over a four contest stretch. Adekoya not only leads the conference in goals, but also points (12) and goals per game (0.60). Through ten games, Adekoya has already surpassed his goal total from a year ago and sits just two points behind his point total from 2014.

Hernandez and Yueill Top Rookie Ranks
UCLA freshman midfielders Jose Hernandez and Jackson Yueill have proved they are the class of the Pac-12 Conference among freshmen so far this season. The freshmen midfielders rank second and third on the team in points (Hernandez - 11, Yueill - 9) and entering the weekend lead all Pac-12 freshmen in that category. Hernandez ranks T-4th in points and 3rd in goals (5) in the Pac-12 Conference, while Yueill's three assists have him ranked T-6th in the conference. Entering the weekend, Hernandez ranks T-7th in goals and T-17th in points among all Division I collegiate freshmen.

Youth Reigns Supreme
For UCLA this season, the youth has carried the scoring load through ten games. Of the Bruins' 19 goals, 15 have been scored by freshmen or sophomores. Additionally, the freshmen and sophomores have racked up 44 of the team's 55 points, accounting for 80 percent of the team's scoring output. The complete scoring breakdown by class can be found below.

Class Goals Assists Points
Freshman 9 6 24
Sophomore 7 6 20
Junior 1 3 5
Senior 2 2 6

Second Half/Overtime Adjustments
UCLA has been a completely different team in the second half and overtime so far this season. 16 of the team's 19 goals have been scored in the second half or overtime and 96 of their 144 shots have come in the second half or overtime. The shot differential in the second half and overtime also favors UCLA, 96-60, over opponents.

UCLA Offense Sets the Bar in the Pac-12
The UCLA offense has been on point so far in 2015 and leads the way in the Pac-12 Conference. The Bruins enter the weekend leading the Pac-12 in goals (19) and points (54). Among all Division I collegiate teams entering the weekend, the Bruins rank T-34th in goals. At this point last season, the Bruins had scored 12 goals through their first ten games.

Michael Amick the Iron Man
UCLA junior defender Michael Amick has been an iron man for the Bruins in his three years in Westwood. He has appeared in 51 of a possible 54 games in his career and had a streak of 40 consecutive starts spanning from 2013 to last Friday broken on Sunday when he was unable to play due to a minor injury. Last season, Amick led all UCLA field players in minutes played, logging 2,287 minutes. As a freshman in 2013, Amick finished the season with 1,484 minutes logged, tops among Bruin freshmen and fourth among all UCLA players.

Salcedo Approaches Win Number 150
UCLA Head Coach Jorge Salcedo has had a very successful tenure in Westwood, going 149-58-38 in 245 career games at the helm. The Bruin head man is just one win away from reaching number 150, which would make him just the third UCLA head coach to reach that mark. He currently has the third most wins of any UCLA head coach, trailing just Sigi Schmid (322) and Ed “Jock” Stewart (194). Salcedo trails only California's Kevin Grimes in career wins among active Pac-12 head coach's at their current school.
