USC

USC has fired football coach Steve Sarkisian one day after he was placed on an indefinite leave of absence, AD Pat Haden announced Monday. Also, SB Nation reports that Sarkisian checked himself into a treatment facility.

Arizona State

Arizona State softball coach Craig Nicholson resigned Monday for personal medical reasons. He was 82-34-1 in two years at ASU, guiding the Sun Devils to the NCAA tournament both seasons. Assistants Robert Wagner and Letty Olivarez will be co-interim head coaches for the 2016 campaign.

Utah

Enjoy him while you can this season, Utah fan, because wide receiver Britain Covey will take his Mormon mission after the 2015 season. Missions usually last two years, so expect him back in the 2018 season, maybe 2017 if he leaves right after the season ends and comes back a little sooner.

UCLA

UCLA wide receiver and safety Mossi Johnson is out for the year with a knee injury, head coach Jim Mora said Sunday. Just what the Bruins need… another guy done for the year.

Stanford

Stanford basketball guard Marcus Allen has a stress fracture in his right foot and is out for indefinitely, the school announced Monday night. Jeff Eisenberg of Yahoo Sports points out that these injuries can sideline a player for months, but there is no official timetable given for Allen’s return. Also, former Stanford men’s water polo player Tony Azevedo was named the Pac-12 Men’s Water Polo Player of the Century.

Oregon State

Oregon State running back Storm Barrs-Woods is approaching the top five all-time in rushing yards in school history, notes Gina Mizell. He needs 48 yards to surpass Dave Schilling for fifth on the list, which is probably as far as he’ll move up unless he starts averaging 160 rushing yards per game for the last seven games of the season (he’s 1,120 yards behind Steven Jackson for fourth).

Oregon

Gordon McGuinness of Pro Football Focus writes that poor quarterback play is derailing a promising season at Oregon, delving into grades at the position and comparing them to how players outside of that group are faring.

Colorado

Chantel Jennings details the friendship between Colorado WR Nelson Spruce and Arizona State QB Mike Bercovici, one that dates back to their Pop Warner days.

Washington State

Sweet – the Jacksonville Jaguars signed former Washington State quarterback Jeff Tuel to the practice squad.

Washington

With the Dawgs getting ready to host the Ducks, Washington coach Chris Petersen vividly remembers how dangerous Oregon QB Vernon Adams is, as dude threw for seven touchdowns against the Huskies last year when he was with Eastern Washington. Adams has missed three games this year with a broken finger and may or may not play Saturday on Montlake. Adam Jude is on the story.

California

Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle features Cal basketball player Stephen Domingo, a San Francisco kid who transferred back to the Bay Area from Georgetown.

Arizona

Here’s an Arizona basketball 2015-16 season preview from SB Nation. The Wildcats lose four huge pieces from last year but should still be a contender, as per usual.
