Nov 24, 2015

SAN FRANCISCOMaverick McNealy of STANFORD has been named the Pac-12 Men’s Golfer of the Month for November, the Pac-12 announced today.

McNealy, a junior from Portola Valley, Calif., earns the honor for the second straight month after he claimed his ninth collegiate tournament with a victory at the Gifford Collegiate Championship (LaCosta Legends Golf Club  in Carlsbad, Calif.) where he fired a 4-under 209 (72-70-67). He saved his best for last, sinking a 40-foot par-saving putt at the par-5 17th hole after hitting a ball in the water, then converted a 30-foot birdie putt from the front fringe at the challenging par-4 18th hole. He is now third in program history to reach the nine-win mark, trailing only Patrick Rodgers and Tiger Woods who each had 11 wins during their Stanford careers.

With the fall season completed, Pac-12 teams won’t return to action until January 29-30 at the Arizona Intercollegiate (Sewailo Golf Club, Tucson, Ariz.).

Also nominated for golfer of the month honors were Jon Rahm, Sr., ARIZONA STATE; Jonathan Garrick, Sr., UCLA; Sean Crocker, So., USC; Corey Pereira, Jr., WASHINGTON.
