EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon posted its eighth straight win in the Civil War series and kept alive its chances of playing in a New Year's Six bowl by beating Oregon State, 52-42, on Friday afternoon before 57,814 in Autzen Stadium.

How It Happened: The Ducks (9-3, 7-2 Pac-12) survived a 35-point second half by Oregon State to hang on and finish the regular season with the second-best record in the Pac-12. The Beavers rallied from down 31-7 at halftime to within three points at 45-42 in the second half, before Bralon Addison's fourth touchdown of the night put the Ducks back in front by double digits.

Opening day starting quarterback Seth Collins, who played off the bench for OSU on Friday after missing several games, ran for two touchdowns in the third quarter. Oregon fumbled away its opening possession of the half, and then got stopped on fourth down at the 2-yard line on the next. Royce Freeman's second rushing touchdown of the game got the Ducks on the board late in the third, making it 38-21 and setting up a wild fourth quarter.

Oregon State starting QB Marcus McMaryion ran for a score early in the fourth quarter, and then the Ducks allowed a punt return touchdown for the second week in a row as OSU closed within 38-35. Addison's third touchdown made it 45-35, which OSU quickly answered on Ryan Nall's 66-yard touchdown run through a UO defense playing without leading tackle Joe Walker, who was not in uniform. It took another Addison touchdown for the Ducks to put it away.

Oregon State (2-10, 0-9) opened the game with a 75-yard touchdown drive, but mustered just 21 yards of offense the rest of the half. The Ducks quickly answered the TD with one of their own, a 13-yard touchdown run on which Addison reversed field and caught a late block from quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. Oregon had a field-goal attempt blocked on its next possession, but Taj Griffin put the home team up for good with a 14-yard touchdown scamper late in the quarter.

Aidan Schneider did put a field-goal attempt through early in the second quarter, and Freeman rushed for a three-yard score. Those drives took 4:57 and 4:39, respectively, as Oregon methodically worked the ball downfield. The Ducks got it back up 24-7 with 2:04 left before halftime and zoomed downfield in 40 seconds, the last play a 37-yard touchdown pass from Adams to a wide-open Addison.

Who Stood Out: Freeman rushed for 167 yards and two scores, surpassing 100 yards from scrimmage in all 12 regular season games, the only player in the country to do so. Adams finished 28-of-38 for 366 yards and three scores, continuing his remarkable November. Addison caught all three passing TDs, and had 106 receiving yards.

What It Means: The Ducks will watch and wait to find out their postseason fate. An array of possibilities exists, from the Rose Bowl — should Stanford reach the College Football Playoff — to the Fiesta Bowl, to the Alamo Bowl.

Notable: Danny Mattingly started at inside linebacker in place of Walker, who did not suit up. Mattingly finished with seven tackles, tied for the team lead. Doug Brenner started at right guard in place of Cameron Hunt, who appeared off the bench. … Canton Kaumatule saw playing time for the first time in November. … Byron Marshall, who was eligible for a medical hardship, participated in senior day facilities prior to the game and confirmed after the game we won't attempt to return for 2016. But Pharaoh Brown, a senior with a redshirt year available, did not participate in senior day.

Up Next: Oregon will play in a bowl game for the 11th straight season.
