ASU Volleyball's Hampton-Keith Accepts Head Coaching Position At NC State

RALEIGH, N.C.—Arizona State volleyball's associate head coach, Linda Hampton-Keith, has accepted the position of head volleyball coach at NC State University, the Wolfpack's Director of Athletics, Deborah A. Yow, announced on Wednesday.

"What a wonderful hire for NC State,” Sun Devil Head Coach Jason Watson said. “Linda has proven to be a coach with a passion for teaching and treating our athletes with respect. She leaves our program in wonderful shape. I will always treasure the time we worked together here at Arizona State."

Hampton-Keith joined the Sun Devils in February of 2011, and in 2012 helped lead the Sun Devils to its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2006, and three more appearances in the following seasons.

She helped coach the 2012 freshman class: Mercedes Binns, Whitney Follette, and Macey Gardner, along with 2013 sophomore transfers Bianca Arellano and Andi Lowrance, to 78 wins in the four-year span, the most wins the program has seen since the 1992-95 season. The class also was the first to defeat all 11 Pac-12 Conference opponents at least once, including a win over Stanford that snapped a 15-year losing skid.

Both Gardner and Follette earned AVCA All-America recognition in their careers, ASU's first honorees since 2000.
