Pac-12 Announces Wrestler of the Week

SAN FRANCISCO - The Conference office announced today that Matt Kraus of ARIZONA STATE was named the Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week for competition through Jan. 4 - Jan. 10.

Kraus, a senior 149-pounder (Imperial, Mo.) got ASU on the board in its upset of No. 24 Old Dominion, grinding out a 3-2 decision win over No. 6/7Alex Richardson. Richardson was an All-American in his weight class in 2014-15. Kraus followed up that performance with a 9-4 decision win over Sal Mastriani of Virginia Tech to round out his competition at the 36th Virginia Duals. Kraus is the first Sun Devil to ever be named Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week.

The Sun Devils return to Tempe to host Iowa State on Friday, Jan. 15 at 8 p.m. MT on Pac-12 Arizona. The match is ASU’s annual MMA Night, featuring, among many others, two-time All-American and current UFC Light Heavyweight competitor Ryan Bader.

Arizona State is also hosting the 2016 Pac-12 Wrestling Championships on Feb. 27 in Tempe, Ariz.
