SAN FRANCISCO--After UCLA’s 197.100-197.075 victory over UTAH on Saturday, no Pac-12 gymnastics squads remain undefeated this season.  UCLA got plenty of attention for the high-profile win, with Sophina DeJesus’s floor routine being seen by millions across the nation and three other UCLA gymnasts sweeping the Pac-12 weekly awards.

Despite the loss, UTAH is leading the Pac-12 in team all-around average and team averages for all events besides the floor, which UCLA is leading. In the national rankings, OREGON STATE’s Dani Dessaints is third on the vault, STANFORD’s Elizabeth Price is second in the nation on the all-around, and UTAH’s Baely Rowe is second in the nation on the bars. Nine Pac-12 gymnasts from four different teams rank within in the top-20 floor performers in the nation this week.

This upcoming weekend, the hot competition in the Pac-12 will continue as two top-20 match-ups get underway. No. 13 STANFORD will travel to No. 20 ARIZONA and No. 18 OREGON STATE will take on No. 7 UCLA.

Sophina DeJesus Routine Goes Viral: It’s been pretty impossible to miss over the last few days but in case you’ve managed, UCLA’s Sophina DeJesus’s floor routine against Utah last Saturday has gone viral. The innovative routine has been covered by the New York Times, the Today Show, Good Morning America, the Washington Post, NPR, Us Weekly, People Magazine, BBC News, The Huffington Post, the Los Angeles Times, Teen Vogue, the Wall Street Journal, ESPN, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, NBC Sports, ABC Sports, and many many more.

UCLA’s Floor Dominance is a Team Effort: DeJesus is not the only star on the floor for the Bruins. Five Bruins rank among the top 19 floor performers in the nation and No. 7 UCLA is the top floor team in the country. DeJesus is currently No. 5 nationally after competing on the floor for the first and only time this season on Saturday. Hallie Mossett is No. 11, reigning Pac-12 Specialist of the Week Angi Cipra is No. 12, reigning Pac-12 Freshman of the Week Madison Preston is No. 14, and reigning Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week Sadiqua Bynum is No. 19. It took a full team effort on the floor to push the Burins past the Red Rocks at the last minute this past Saturday.

Utah Still on Top: Despite the extremely close loss at UCLA on Saturday, Utah still leads the Pac-12 and is ranked sixth nationally with an all-around average 196.650. Utah leads the Pac-12 in all other events besides the floor and boasts the No. 2 bars performer in the nation in Baely Rowe. Next up, the Red Rocks host Washington this Saturday.
