PULLMAN, Wash. – Sun Devil Baseball jumped on the Cougars early for five runs in the first inning and never looked back in an 18-3 series-clinching win against Washington State on Saturday at Bailey-Brayton Field in Pullman, Wash.

Arizona State's 18 runs are the program's most since April 28, 2010, and led to the team's largest margin of victory in a Pac-12 game since 2012, and the largest in a road conference contest since 2005.

Right-hander Eder Erives (3-0) struck out a career-best 11 to pick up the win in his first career start. He scattered two runs on five hits and did not issue a walk across seven innings, and retired 12 straight midway through his outing.

Four underclassmen paced the Sun Devils (16-10, 3-6) offensively, headlined by second baseman Andrew Snow, who notched a career-best four RBI on a pair of hits.  Right fielder Gage Canning and center fielder Andrew Shaps each added three RBI, a career-high mark for Shaps, third baseman Jeremy McCuin notched a career-best two hits and two RBI, and left fielder Tyler Williams, who started all three games in Pullman in left field, registered a hit in each game of the series and scored a career-high three runs on Saturday.

The Devils sent eight batters to the plate and racked up four hits in their five-run opening frame. Catcher Brian Serven began the scoring with a two-run double off the wall that brought home Snow and shortstop Colby Woodmansee, who walked and singled, respectively. Shaps and Canning drove in the next three with a RBI single and two-run base hit, respectively.

Erives allowed a pair of doubles and a run in the first inning, and a two-out single in the second before he retired 12 straight into the sixth.

ASU piled on seven runs in the top of the fifth to break the game open, 12-1. Williams drew a bases-loaded walk with no outs to register the first run of the frame and the Devils followed with two hits, two walks, a groundout and a fielder's choice.

The Devils scored six runs across the final third of the game, including one in the seventh, two in the eighth and three in the ninth.

Right-hander Jordan Aboites tossed a perfect eighth inning with one strikeout and left-hander Connor Higgins, in his second appearance of the series, closed out the ninth.
