USC athletics

USC

Lindsey Thiry of the Los Angeles Times tells us that USC football player/long jumper Adoree’ Jackson is within “leaping distance” of the Olympic trials. Going into last weekend’s UCLA meet, Jackson ranked 16th nationally in the long jump at 25-8 (top 24 qualify for Olympic trials).

Arizona

Arizona’s Annika Sörenstam was named Pac-12 Women’s Golfer of the Century, while Arizona State’s Phil Mickelson was named Pac-12 Men’s Golfer of the Century.

Arizona State

Arizona State fired women’s gymnastics coach Rene Lyst, Vice President for Athletics Ray Anderson said in a statement (The Arizona Republic). Ralph Rosso will be the interim head coach while the Sun Devils conduct a national search.

Oregon

Going beyond the jerseys we linked to in the Monday roundup, quarterback Dakota Prukop impressed in Oregon’s spring game, writes Anne M. Peterson of the Associated Press. Prukop completed 20 of 29 passes for 190 yards and threw two touchdown passes north of 30 yards apiece.

UCLA

Emily Kaplan of Sports Illustrated discusses how Myles Jack wasn’t selected until the second round by Jacksonville. Really interesting read here.

Oregon State

On the move again – former Oregon State guard Hallice Cooke will transfer from Iowa State, notes Danny Moran. He played one year at Iowa State after moving away from Corvallis.

Utah

This shouldn’t be a surprise at all, but Jeff Goodman reported that Utah’s Jakob Poeltl has been invited to next week’s NBA Draft Combine (Brandon Judd of the Deseret News on the link).

Stanford

In case you missed it over the weekend, the San Francisco 49ers nabbed Stanford wide receiver Devon Cajuste as an undrafted free agent (Cam Inman, San Jose Mercury News). Stanford outside linebacker Kevin Anderson also got scooped up by the Niners as an undrafted rookie.

California

Despite losing Jaylen Brown and Tyrone Wallace, Cal men’s basketball might be a more complete team in 2016-17, Jon Rothstein believes.

Washington

Kevin Gemmell gives us the top 10 players on the Washington football depth chart, starting with first-team all-conference defensive back Sidney Jones.

Colorado

Brian Howell writes that Josh Tupou’s return to Colorado football will help the Buffs. The defensive tackle was suspended from school and the team last year and missed the 2015 season.

Washington State

Oooh check out this video of Dog Day at the Park at Washington State on Sunday. Look at all the little puppies!
