Five Pac-12 women's rowing teams selected to compete at NCAA Championships

SAN FRANCISCO — The NCAA announced the field for the 2016 NCAA Division I Rowing Championships today, and five Pac-12 squads were selected, more than any other conference. The Championships will be hosted by the Pac-12 Conference, May 27-29 at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center on Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif.

The team championship is composed of 22 teams, with 11 conferences earning automatic qualification and an additional 11 teams earning at-large bids. CALIFORNIA secured the league’s automatic qualifier bid after winning its second-straight Conference title and eighth in the past nine years.

Joining the Golden Bears from the Pac-12 include USC, Stanford, Washington and Washington State.

Teams qualifying for the championship as an automatic qualifier or as an at-large are required to field two boats of eight rowers and one boat of four rowers.

For the I Eights, II Eights and Fours, all 22 boats will be seeded into four heats.
