EUGENE, Ore. -- Arizona State freshman Linnea Strom turned in a 1-over 73 performance on Sunday in the rain but did not make the cut to advance to the final round on Monday at Eugene Country Club.

Only the top nine individuals not on a qualifying team advanced through Sunday, and Strom unfortunately missed the cut by just four spots and two strokes.

"Linnea struggled a little today but did a great job hanging in there and finishing strong with two birdies," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "Although she did not make the cut, I am very proud of her efforts this week and her entire year as a freshman Sun Devil. The future is bright for Linnea and I am excited for our ASU women's golf team."

As Farr-Kaye said, Strom finished her round strong with birdies 17 and 18 to finish the day on a high note. Unfortunately, it would not be enough in her first experience at the NCAA Championships.

Over the three days, Strom tied for ninth in pars made with 35 and added another eight birdies in total.

Strom was also one of the best on the par-5's over the weekend, combining to go four-under over the four holes in her three rounds. She combined to go even on the par-3's with the par-4's giving her the most challenges.

However, only 12 of the 132 golfers finished under par on the par-4's over the three days.

Sunday concluded the ASU women's golf season, but all five starting Sun Devils will return for the 2016-17 season along with incoming No. 9 amateur in the world, Olivia Mehaffey. That will give the Devils three of the top-16 amateur golfers in the country and two of the top 10 along with No. 5 Linnea Strom and No. 16 Monica Vaughn
