Pac-12 Women’s Golf Honors UCLA’s Law And Vu, Washington’s Mulflur Tabbed Coach Of The Year

SAN FRANCISCO—UCLA’s Bronte Law was named Pac-12 Women’s Golfer of the Year, while teammate Lilia Vu was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year. WASHINGTON coach Mary Lou Mulflur was honored as the Pac-12 Coach of the Year in a vote of the Pac-12 women’s golf coaches.

Law, a junior from Stockport, England, had another amazing season as she finished first nationally in Golfstat stroke average (70.61) and was the top-ranked collegiate women’s golfer according to Golfweek. Law finished 9th in stroke play at NCAA Championships shooting 4-under 284. Law recorded 20 rounds under-par including 11 rounds in the 60s. She finished her season with eight top-10 performances and three victories. The All-American has been selected for several postseason individual honors, including the Ping WGCA Player of the Year and winner of the Annika Award. This is Law’s second consecutive Pac-12 Player of the Year honor.

Vu, from Fountain Valley, Calif., put together an impressive freshman campaign in earning herself Pac-12 Freshman of the Year honors. She posted five top-10 performances, shot 13 rounds under par, and seven rounds in the 60’s. She had a scoring average of 71.66 and ranked third nationally by Golfweek. Vu held the top score for the Bruins and a tied for 6th shooting 5-under 283 in stroke play at the NCAA Championships, which helped push UCLA to first overall in stroke play and entered match play as the top seed. Vu earned All-Pac-12 First Team honors and also collected WGCA First Team All-American honors.

Mulflur led WASHINGTON to its first national championship in program history as the Huskies ousted defending champion Stanford in extra holes for the 3-2 match-play victory. Mulflur also was named WGCA National Coach of the Year following the NCAA Championship victory. Mulflur has led the Huskies to nine straight NCAA Regional Appearances and 12 NCAA Championship appearances during her 33 seasons. It’s the third time Mulflur has been named Conference coach of the year as she also collected the honor in 1988 and 1999.
