Arizona's Rich Rodriguez on QB situation: 'We have two guys competing for starting job'

Jul 14, 2016

Who will be the 'Cats starting quarterback?

Arizona head coach Rich Rodriquez told reporters at Pac-12 Football Media Day that Anu Solomon and Brandon Dawkins will compete for the starting job at training camp.

"I think we're in a good situation," said RichRod. "Solomon, Dawkins will go into camp splitting first team reps and we'll see who wins the job. I hope both of them can prove we can win with them."

Solomon has the experience. The redshirt junior finished the 2015 season with 48 passing touchdowns and 6,460 passing yards, tied for fourth-most in Arizona football history, despite being sidelined for games against Stanford and Arizona State.

Dawkins filled in seamlessly for Solomon, throwing two touchdown passes and rushing for two of his own in six games for the 'Cats.
