Women's soccer kicks off 2016 season

• The 2016 season begins on Friday, Aug. 19 with 10 teams competing. OREGON STATE and STANFORD, the two teams not playing on Aug. 19, debut on Aug. 21.

• The match up between BYU and WASHINGTON STATE will appear on the Pac-12 Network Aug. 19, while the game between Weber State and UTAH will be seen on the Utah live stream.

• The Pac-12 has four teams ranked in the NSCAA preseason poll. STANFORD sits in the No. 5 spot while USC is at No. 11. CALIFORNIA is 18th overall and ARIZONA is 20th. UCLA, Washington State and WASHINGTON also received votes.

• Twenty-eight players from NCAA Division I schools around the country have been marked as potential contenders for the 2016 Missouri Athletic Club’s (MAC) Hermann Trophy. The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer, presented annually to one male and one female athlete. The Pac-12 has five representatives on the list: Stanford’s senior Jane Campbell and junior Andi Sullivan, USC’s seniors Kayla Mills and Morgan Andres, along with California’s senior Arielle Ship.

• Six Pac-12 teams earned berths into the 2015 NCAA Women’s College Cup. Stanford was a No. 1 seed for the second-straight year and it was joined in the field by No. 3-seeded California, No. 4-seeded USC, Arizona, Washington and Washington State.

• Stanford claimed its fifth Pac-12 title in the last seven years and 10th all-time. The Cardinal was the last team standing in the NCAA Tournament last year, reaching the national quarterfinal but falling in penalty kicks to Duke.

• The countdown of Pac-12 Networks’ 850 live event telecasts will begin on the pitch with a 68-game women’s soccer schedule. Each Pac-12 team appears on the Networks at least six times (home or away) in 2016.
