Roundup: The Ducks will look like ducks against Colorado

Oregon

You had to know the Ducks were going to do something special for the Pac-12 opener against Colorado, right? Oregon’s uniforms will make the players look like actual ducks – white helmet, green tops, white pants and orange socks and shoes. This is awesome.

Utah

But before that, the Pac-12 football weekend begins in the SLC Friday night, and Kyle Goon gives us a USC-Utah preview in this article, heavily featuring our very own Yogi Roth. Could the Trojans really start the season 1-3?

Colorado

Want some more Yogi Roth quotes? Check out this article from Casey Light of Mile High Sports in which our buddy says that Colorado’s offense is “as good as any team in the entire country.” I’m expecting a wild one in Eugene.

Stanford

Speaking with the media Thursday, Doug Baldwin demanded that police departments across America review their training policies and place a higher priority on de-escalation tactics.

Oregon State

John Canzano believes that Oregon State needs to find an AD with a heavy football background. Some names of potential replacements are dropped in here, including baseball coach Pat Casey.

UCLA

Eddie Timanus of USA Today Sports thinks that the Stanford-UCLA game will be one of the four biggest games to impact the College Football Playoff this week. Can the Cardinal continue its win streak against the Bruins and dominance against the state of California?

USC

This guy has only a very loose tie to USC, and this story will take you about 30 minutes to read, but it’s by far the best story you will read all day – check out Chris Ballard of Sports Illustrated’s piece on Robert Swift’s journey from NBA lottery pick to drug addict to NBA comeback hopeful. Swift committed to USC out of high school, but instead opted to turn pro. This is amazing, amazing journalism. If you do need a football link on this Friday since your team is playing Friday night, Kyle Bonagura writes that USC’s season is at a crossroads.

Washington

John McGrath of The News Tribune writes that it’s time to see how good Washington football really is. After a very light non-league slate, the Dawgs kick off Pac-12 play at Arizona.

Arizona

Dan Woiken of USA TODAY Sports lists Arizona as a future place Lane Kiffin could be a head coach. That would involve RichRod heading elsewhere, but his name has popped up in coaching searches in the past.

Arizona State

Kevin Gemmell features new Arizona State quarterback Manny Wilkins, who has the Sun Devils at 3-0 with the No. 2 scoring offense in the conference at 48 points per game.

California

Rusty Simmons features Cal football’s Luke Rubenzer, a former quarterback for the Golden Bears who has turned into a turnover-triggering safety. He already has a couple of fumble recoveries and a pick this season.

Washington State

Jacob Thorpe tells us how Washington State is spending its bye week – a little rest, a little Oregon prep.
