The No. 6 ranked Oregon softball team clinched a series win over rival Oregon State with a 7-2 win in game two on Saturday at Jane Sanders Stadium.

EUGENE, Ore. - The No. 6 ranked Oregon softball team clinched a series win over rival Oregon State with a 7-2 win in game two on Saturday at Jane Sanders Stadium.

The Ducks (40-6, 13-6 Pac-12) tallied seven runs on seven hits with one error. The Beavers (24-21, 6-11) recorded two runs on four hits with three errors.

40 WINS: Oregon has reached the 40-win mark for the 11th time in program history and the sixth straight time under head coach Mike White. The Ducks went 36-21 and advanced to a super regional in 2010, White's first season. Oregon has won 40+ games each year since, including 50+ wins in three seasons.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Ducks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Lauren Lindvall drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to right and Mia Camuso later scored from third on an illegal pitch.

Oregon tacked on two more runs in the third. Camuso rolled into a RBI groundout to bring home Gwen Svekis from third. Madi Bishop then singled to score Nikki Udria

Oregon State scored a pair in the top of the fifth to trim the UO lead to 4-2, but the Ducks struck for three runs in the bottom half of the fifth.

After the Ducks loaded the bases on a Shannon Rhodes single and two OSU errors, Jenna Lilley was hit by a pitch to drive in a run. Danica Mercado laced a two-run single to right to make it a 7-2 lead for the Ducks.

"I think our team has needed a couple of big games of hitting and I think we've had them," Mercado said. "Like I've said in the past, it just takes a couple of hits for us to get going and I think we're on a good path right now. The team feels good."

IN THE CIRCLE: Freshman Maggie Balint started for the Ducks and picked up the win after allowing two runs on two hits and six walks in 4.1 innings. Miranda Elish tossed the final 2.2 innings, allowing no runs on two hits with no walks and seven strikeouts. Balint is now 17-3 on the season.

"Miranda did a fantastic job (in relief)," head coach Mike White said. "That's the best I've seen her pitch. I think she continues to get stronger and stronger week-to-week. She struck out their best hitter twice. I was really proud of her to be able to do that."

AT THE PLATE: Freshman Shannon Rhodes led the Ducks with two hits and two runs scored on the day. Danica Mercado had a team-high two RBIs. The Ducks tallied seven hits and drew five walks.

UDRIA'S STREAK: With a single in the third inning, senior Nikki Udria has now reached base in 40 straight games. She has failed to reach base in just one game all season.

CIVIL WAR DOMINANCE: With Saturday's win, the Ducks have won 14-straight games against rival Oregon State. Oregon will go for a fifth straight series sweep on Sunday at 3 PM.
