Stanford

Stanford women’s volleyball is on to the NCAA finals after defeating Minnesota 3-1 in the Final Four. After getting its second victory of the season over the Gophers, Stanford will take on Texas for the title. The scary thing is that this team is made up of mostly freshmen…

Washington State

While we’re on the subject of the Gophers, the Minnesota football players are boycotting football activities and are threatening to not play in the Holiday Bowl against Washington State to protest the suspension of 10 players in connection with a sexual assault allegation (Star Tribune).

Colorado

But of course – Colorado coach Mike MacIntyre has received two more National Coach of the Year awards (AP Coach of the Year, 2016 Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year). That’s what happens when you lead the rise in Boulder.

Oregon

Now that defensive coordinator is taken care of, The Oregonian/OregonLive gives us 10 candidates for the next Oregon offensive coordinator. Greg Roman and Jake Spavital, among others, are mentioned.

Oregon State

At least partially spurred by Tres Tinkle’s emotional speech following a disturbing loss to Savannah State, Oregon State men’s basketball is trying to get back on track (Danny Moran). Just one year after making the NCAA Tournament, the Beavers have lost seven straight games to Division I foes (Tres Tinkle being out hasn’t helped matters).

Utah

Utah women’s volleyball outside hitter Adora Anae was named an AVCA All-American second-team selection (Kyle Goon on the link). She became the only Ute in school history to amass 500 kills and 400 digs in the same season.

UCLA

Lavar Ball, father of UCLA guard Lonzo Ball, said that all three of his sons will be one-and-done players, meaning that Lonzo and his younger brothers, LiAngelo and LaMelo, will leave college for the NBA Draft after their freshmen seasons (CBS Sports).

USC

Kyle Bonagura and Josh Moyer of ESPN give us an early look at the Rose Bowl Game featuring USC and Penn State. It’s Jan. 2 this year (or next year, I should say).

California

Bonagura also whips up this piece on Sonny Dykes needing to fix Cal’s defense sooner rather than later. The Bears allowed 42.6 points per game this season, second worst nationally.

Washington

Let’s get the details from Mason Kelley on Washington safety JoJo McIntosh and his vision at the beginning of this “ridiculous” season that Washington would make the College Football Playoff.

Arizona

Bruce Pascoe features Arizona men’s basketball freshmen Lauri Markkanen, Rawle Alkins and Kobi Simmons. The Wildcats are getting ready to face Texas A&M Saturday in Houston.

Arizona State

Here are some of The Arizona Republic readers’ thoughts on Arizona State’s new uniform policy, requiring that threads are mainly maroon and gold. Some in favor, some not, as expected.
