Roundup: Oregon State's Sydney Wiese nearing Pac-12 3-point record
Gina Mizell tells us that Oregon State women’s basketball guard Sydney Wiese could break the Pac-12 3-point record this week. After hitting four 3-pointers Monday in a 62-59 win over a good UNLV squad to give her 293 for her Oregon State career, Wiese now needs just three more to surpass Pac-12 all-time leader Candice Wiggins (Stanford).
Dan Wolken of USA TODAY Sports writes that Washington has plenty of doubters as it gets ready for the College Football Playoff semifinal against No. 1 Alabama. The Crimson Tide are heavy favorites, and Washington has been criticized all season for playing a soft non-conference schedule.
Stanford men’s basketball all-time leading scorer Chasson Randle was named D-League Performer of the Week on Monday after averaging 28.7 points on 52 percent shooting to go along with 4.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.3 steals in three games the week before for the Westchester Knicks. As soon as a roster spot opens up in the NBA, Randle might get his first cup of coffee in the league.
U.S. Women’s National Team soccer player Alex Morgan will start the season playing in France and return to the NWSL’s Orlando Pride in May (*cough* bring a team to the Bay, NWSL *cough*).
