Roundup: Cal AD Michael Williams explains decision to fire Sonny Dykes
Cal AD Michael Williams sent a letter to Golden Bear fans Sunday night explaining his decision to fire football coach Sonny Dykes, courtesy of The Mercury News. Offensive coordinator Jake Spavital has agreed to serve as interim head coach while a coaching search is conducted.
Former Trojan QB Matt Leinart was named to the College Football Hall of Fame on Monday. Part of a 13-member 2017 class, Leinart becomes the 32nd USC player to be inducted.
This would be a big get – Jon Wilner reports that the No. 1 offensive line recruit in the country is expected to sign with Stanford. Dude’s name is Foster Sarell, he’s 310 pounds and was recruited by Washington, USC and Notre Dame.
There were some awesome women’s hoops games on our airwaves over the weekend, so how about we start with Oregon State defeating Stanford in double-overtime to get its first win in Maples… ever? They might not be the highest-ranked team in the Pac-12 (that could change pretty soon), but the Beavs are still the queens of the conference.
