Wildcat Wednesday

Wildcat Wednesday - On To The Sweet 16

88131 85502

ON TO THE SWEET 16

With victories over North Dakota and Saint Mary's, your Wildcats advanced to their 18th Sweet 16 and their fifth in the last seven years. It's an outstanding achievement and one we're really proud of, but now it's time to focus on our next opponent, Xavier. We'll take on the Musketeers tomorrow in San Jose. The tip time is officially listed as 7:09 p.m. MST, but in actuality, it will be about 30 minutes after the first game between Gonzaga and West Virginia finishes. If you can't be with us at the SAP Center, you can watch the game on TBS.

We continue to update our NCAA Tournament info page as we advance, so if you're looking for more information, visit ArizonaWildcats.com/NCAATournament. We also have an updated version of our NCAA Tournament Digital Guide. If you'd like to check that out, click HERE.

Not to get ahead of ourselves because we have a tough game tomorrow and would need to beat another top opponent on Saturday, but we want to remind you that the deadline to request Final Four tickets through Arizona Athletics is tomorrow (March 23) at noon. You can make your request by visiting our NCAA Tournament info page linked above. You'll receive a confirmation email later this week if your request is granted. There will be an allotment for Zona Zoo members for the Final Four. Details on that information will be available if we're fortunate enough to advance.

If you don't have tickets for the Regional this weekend but would like to come support us, our partners at Vivid Seats have tickets available and offer a 100% buyer guarantee. Click HERE for more info.

March is an exciting month and with our advancement to the Regional round, that excitement continues to grow. We want to thank you for your support during our run and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in San Jose this weekend.

CANDREA APPROACHING 1,500 CAREER VICTORIES

Our head softball coach and my former college coach Mike Candrea is on the verge of another career milestone. Entering this weekend's series with Washington, Mike is three wins shy of 1,500 for his illustrious career. When he reaches the mark, he'll be just the second softball coach to achieve the feat, joining Michigan's Carol Hutchins, who won her 1,500th last Sunday, and most likely, the fastest by number of games. In total, only five coaches, in any sport, have won 1,500 games in NCAA Division I history and Mike would be the sixth.

Turning towards the diamond, our Cats are coming off a three-game sweep of Oregon St. in their Pac-12 opening series. We've now won 14 straight games and stand at 29-1, our best 30-game start since 2004. Of note, we've had two separate winning streaks of at least 14 games this season for the first time since 2006.

We'll take on the Huskies this weekend in a Top-10 matchup at Hillenbrand beginning Friday at 5 p.m. MST. Both Saturday and Sunday's games are scheduled to start at noon. If you need tickets, call the McKale Ticket Office during normal business hours (M-F, 9-5 p.m.) or click HERE.

HEEKE IN SALT LAKE CITY

We were excited to have our new athletics director Dave Heeke join us in Salt Lake City for the first and second rounds. It was great for him to meet so many of our loyal supporters, and to see what it's like being on the road with our basketball program. On Friday evening, we had a good time at a small reception with some of our Wildcat Club members, which was a great opportunity for Dave to learn more about what's going on at Arizona.

Thanks for joining us Dave and we'll see you soon.

FREE FOOTBALL SCRIMMAGE AT ARIZONA STADIUM

Spring football is wrapping up with the Spring Showcase Series, presented by Orthopros. The first event was the open practice on March 2. The next event will be Friday, March 31 as the football team will host a full scrimmage at Arizona Stadium. Fans are invited to attend this free event. The evening will start with a free youth coaches clinic from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Youth coaches interested in participating should contact Dusty Rutledge (rrutledge@arizona.edu). The scrimmage will start at 6 p.m. More information can be found by clicking HERE.

Football season ticket renewals and Wildcat Club donations are still being accepted. Click HERE to renew online today.

ARIZONA KIDCATS HONORARY CAPTAIN PROGRAM

The Arizona KidCats Club gives children K-8th grade, amongst other things, the exclusive opportunity to become an Honorary Captain. The Honorary Captain contest is presented by Hughes Federal Credit Union for baseball, gymnastics, soccer, softball, volleyball and women's basketball. If selected as a winner, the Arizona KidCats Club member becomes the Honorary Captain of a select game for that particular sport. All opportunities are unique to the sport but some include standing with the team during the National Anthem, running out with the team during introductions, and being introduced on the videoboard. We hope you will come to a softball or baseball game this season to support our Honorary Captains.

If you would like to enter a contest for next year, information will be emailed to all KidCats Club members. Additionally, if you have a K-8th grade child who is not yet signed up, you can sign them up for a free membership by visiting ArizonaKidCats.org. Members will receive an Arizona KidCats Club identification card, reduced admission to a select number of Arizona Athletics events, participate in interactive online activities, and the ability to purchase an official club t-shirt. Don't miss out!
