Pac-12 announces outdoor track & field athletes of the week

The Pac-12 Conference outdoor track and field athlete of the week honors for the week of April 10-16:

Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Colby Gilbert, Washington
Junior
Vancouver, Wash.

The defending Pac-12 5,000-meter individual champion made his outdoor season debut in the invitational section of the 5k at the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday. Gilbert took third overall in 13:38.68, just three seconds off his school record. That time is the fastest in the Pac-12 this season and ranks fourth in the NCAA.

Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Raevyn Rogers, Oregon
Junior
Houston, Texas

Rogers was also named the USTFCCCA Division I National Athlete of the Week after she bested a field of mostly professionals and broke a 27-year-old collegiate record to win the 800 meters at the Mt. SAC Relays in 1:59.10. The time moves her from fourth to third on the Pac-12 all-time 800m list, and is the fifth collegiate record of the season for the No. 1 nationally ranked Oregon women's team. Rogers also ran the anchor leg for the victorious 4x400 relay, which posted the fifth-fastest time in Oregon history (3:27.98) and eighth-fastest in Pac-12 history.

Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Eric Sloan, USC

Sloan repeats as Pac-12 Men's Field Athlete of the Week after winning the men's triple jump at the Beach Invitational in Long Beach with a best mark of 53-10.75/16.42m (+1.7). That jump moves him from seventh to fifth on USC's all-time list, ranks second among all collegians this season, and is the best jump by a Pac-12 athlete by more than two feet. Taking second in the event was 2016 Olympian Chris Bernard and third was Omar Craddock, former U.S. triple jump champion. Sloan now has the top long jump and triple jump in the Pac-12 this season.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Margaux Jones, USC
Sophomore
Redlands, Calif.

Jones placed third overall and was the top collegiate finisher in the long jump at Long Beach State's Beach Invitational with leap of 20-8.50/6.31m (+0.0). It is the 15th-best jump in the country this season and top jump among Pac-12 athletes by six inches.
