TUCSON -- Arizona State beach volleyball's prolific No. 1s senior duo of
Bianca Arellano and
Whitney Follette advanced to the Pac-12 Beach Volleyball Championships Pairs Quarterfinals by virtue of an opening round straight set victory Friday afternoon.

Competing in the event as the No. 3 seed, Arellano and Follette defeated Oregon's 14
th-seeded Lindsey Vander Weide and Brooke Van Sickle in consecutive sets, 21-13, 21-19.

The victory briefly extends the storied careers of the pair, who notched their program-record 23
rd win on the season.

Also competing in the outing, Arizona State's 11
th-seeded pair of
Oluoma Okaro and
Madison Berridge valiantly battled Southern California's No. 6 Sophie Bukovek and Allie Wheeler, before ultimately falling in a highly-contested second set, 26-24. The pair's combined 20 victories on the 2017 campaign, constitutes the second-highest season winning tally in program history. Berridge a formidable part of the Sand Devils'Â No. 2s 1-2 punch, concludes her collegiate career as the third winningest player in Arizona State history, with 31 total victories to her credit.

Up next, Arellano and Follette will seek redemption on part of the Sand Devil collective taking on the No. 6-seeded Bukovek and Wheeler on Saturday at 9 a.m. PT. The match will air live, via the Pac-12 Networks.

The competition's semi-finals duals will be held at 11 a.m. PT, with the Pac-12 Pairs Championship slated to follow at 1 p.m PT.
