Box Score EUGENE – Senior pitcher Eder Erives put on a show but the Sun Devil Baseball offense ran into a red hot Oregon pitcher in a tough 2-0 loss in the series opener Friday night in Eugene.

Erives became the first Sun Devil pitcher to pitch a complete game this season, going a career-high 8.0 innings with just one earned run allowed as he scattered just four hits while striking out four.

The senior righty issued nine first-pitch outs in the contest, three of which opened up innings and helped him stay out of trouble for much of the game. Erives faced the minimum three batters four times in the game.

Taylor Lane went 2-for-3 with his first triple at ASU and was the lone bright spot in the Sun Devil offense that managed just four hits off Oregon ace David Peterson.

Oregon got all the offense it needed in the bottom of the fourth, cooking something up with a leadoff walk followed by back-to-back singles. Erives was able to navigate the threat as he allowed just one earned run in the frame before essentially cruising the rest of the contest, allowing just one runner into scoring position the remainder of the way.

The Devils threatened late in the contest with Lane's one-out triple giving ASU its best scoring chance but a strikeout out and flyout ended the threat.  Andrew Shaps led off the night with a double but Peterson escaped unharmed with three straight strikeouts to earn the victory.
