Phyllis Francis, Cyrus Hostetler, Matthew Centrowitz and Johnny Gregorek qualified for the U.S. World Championships team on Saturday in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Former Oregon track and field stars Phyllis Francis, Cyrus Hostetler, Matthew Centrowitz and Johnny Gregorek secured spots on the USA World Championships team on Saturday to headline the third day of the U.S. Outdoor Championships at Hornet Stadium.

Multiple other current and professional Ducks also set themselves up for a chance to qualify to the IAAF World Championships this August when the action wraps up in Sacramento on Sunday.

How it Happened: Francis was the first qualifier of the day for past and current Ducks, and fourth overall after Deajah Stevens, Ariana Washington and Eric Jenkins earned spots on Team USA on Friday. Francis, representing Nike, was second in the 400 meter finals in 49.46 just behind winner Quanera Hayes.

Hostetler booked his ticket to London with a second-place finish in the javelin, recording a top throw of 261'6" (79.71m), though he will need to achieve the world championships standard of 283-0 within the qualifying period over the next month to officially make Team USA. Shortly after, Centrowitz and Gregorek finished second and third, respectively, in the 1,500 meter finals. Centrowitz crossed the line in 3:43.41 to miss the U.S. title by just .13 seconds, and Gregorek came across in 3:43.99. Both have the world championship standard of 3:36.00.

Among current Ducks, redshirt sophomore Alaysha Johnson concluded her stellar 2017 season with a seventh-place finish in the 100-meter hurdle finals in 12.92. Johnson reached the finals after running 12.73 in the semifinals. Senior Sasha Wallace did not advance out of the semifinals.

Stevens and Washington both moved on to Sunday's semifinals in the 200 meters after finishing 2-3 in the 100 finals on Friday to make the U.S. team. The Duck duo ran the top two times in the first round of the 200, with Stevens clocking in at 22.55 and Washington crossing in 22.57. In the men's 200 preliminaries, school record-holder Kyree King advanced to the semifinals after placing second in his heat (20.68).

In the 1,500 meter finals, freshman Katie Rainsberger wrapped a terrific first season as a Duck with a 10th-place in 4:12.64, and junior Sam Prakel was seventh on the men's side in 3:45.02.

Senior Ryan Hunter-Simms finished in 11th place in the discus with a top throw of 183'2" (55.83m) to open the day, and senior Cody Danielson reached 219' (66.76m) in the javelin finals.

In the U.S. Junior Championships, freshman Hannah Waller took fifth in the 400 meter finals, running a lifetime-best 52.34.

Pro Ducks: While Francis, Hostetler, Centrowitz and Gregorek qualified for Team USA on Saturday, multiple other former Duck stars were in action as well. Devon Allen ran 13.61 in the first round of the 110-meter hurdles to reach tomorrow's semifinal, and Jenna Prandini was second in her 200 meter first round heat in 22.89 to advance. Jasmine Todd placed sixth in the long jump finals with a top leap of 21'6.25" (6.57m), and Jordan McNamara finished one spot ahead of Prakel in the 1,500 finals in 3:44.81.
