LOS ANGELES – The No. 21-ranked USC women's volleyball team (10-3, 2-0 Pac-12) won its third consecutive match with a 3-1 victory (25-21, 24-26, 25-18, 27-25) over Oregon State (10-4, 0-2) at Galen Center on Sunday, Sept. 24. The Women of Troy had three players in double-digit kills led by sophomore outside hitter Khalia Lanier's 20-kill performance (9e, 46att, .239). Lanier posted the third double-double of her season with 15 digs and added a block to her final line. It was the 19th double-double of her career.

Senior opposite hitter Brittany Abercrombie matched her career high and had 18 kills (4e, 43att, .326) for the second straight match. Abercrombie also had one block. Sophomore hitter Daley Krage set a new career mark with 15.0 points. She matched her career best with 12 kills (5e, 35att, .200) and added two solo blocks and a service ace to go with six digs. Off the bench, junior outside hitter Alyse Ford produced eight kills (3e, 14att) and hit .357. Senior hitter Niki Withers added four kills.

The Women of Troy hit .279 in the match and had 73 kills (27e, 165att) despite being out-blocked by the Beavers, 13-4. Senior setter Reni Meyer-Whalley dished out a career-high 36 assists and put up a season-best 16 digs to log her third double-double this season and the 12th of her career. Sophomore setter Cindy Marina had 28 assists with three digs. Junior libero Victoria Garrick had 25 digs and put up five assists with three service aces.

At the middle position, senior Jordan Dunn scored six kills (1e, 7att) and hit .714 to go with a block and a pair of digs. Junior Brittany Welsh had four kills (2e, 9att, .222) and served an ace. Sophomore defensive specialist Jenna Adams put up seven digs.

For Oregon State, Mary-Kate Marshall scored 19 kills (5e, 60att, .233) with four digs and three blocks. Maddie Goings had 17 kills (2e, 31att, .484) with 14 digs for a double-double. Maddie Gravley had seven kills (1e, 14att, .429) with five blocks. Korey Cheshire added six kills and led all players with seven blocks (three solo). Kayla Ellis led the Beavers with 17 digs.

The score was tied nine times and the lead changed hands five times in the first set, but USC broke the final tie (19-all) and scored kills on six of the final eight rallies to close out a 25-21 win. Lanier's kill on an overplayed ball was her eighth in the opening frame and put the 1-0 set lead in the Trojans' hands.

The Trojans trailed the Beavers by as many as three points early in the second set, but turned the tide to lead by three, 17-14, when Krage rejected Cheshire at the net. It wasn't enough as the Beavers edged ahead, 22-20, in the set. USC used a 3-0 run and an error by Goings to claim set point at 24-23, but two OSU kills and a block ended the set in the Beavers' favor, 26-24.

The Women of Troy broke a five-all tie with a massive 7-0 run with two kills apiece by Abercrombie and Krage; one by Ford, and a solo block by Krage. The 12-5 lead would hold up even as Oregon State made a charge near the end of the set. The Beavers came only within three at 17-14 and 18-15 before Krage, Abercrombie, and Lanier scored three straight kills to help USC pull away. Abercrombie's tip earned her sixth kill of the set and closed out a 25-18 win for the Women of Troy.

The decision for set four hung in the balance for some time as the teams faced 14 ties and four lead changes. Oregon State made the first big move to lead by five points, 13-8, as it capitalized on Trojan errors, but USC stayed the course and chipped away to score a 17-all tie on a crosscourt kill by Abercrombie. The teams stayed step-for-step until the Beavers took set point at 24-23, but Krage tooled the block and then served an ace to flip the script for a 25-24 USC match point. Marshall saved one with her kill, but Lanier's tip put the Trojans on the doorstep once more. Marshall went wide on the final attack of the match to end set four, 27-25, for USC.

The Women of Troy remain home for the next two matches and host Washington State on Saturday (Sept. 30) and Washington on Sunday (Oct. 1) next weekend. Both matches are set for 1 p.m. PT starts with the Trojans-Huskies matchup slated for live television on Pac-12 Washington. The USC-WSU match will be streamed live on the Pac-12.com/now website.
