Washington linebacker Ben Burr-Kirven has been named a quarterfinalist for the 2017 Lott IMPACT Trophy, presented to the defensive player who makes the biggest IMPACT on their team both on and off the field. IMPACT is an acronym for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

Burr-Kirven, a junior from Menlo Park, Calif., is the Huskies' leader in tackles this season, with 42. He's led the team in tackles in four of the UW's seven games this season. Burr-Kirven has played in 33 of 34 games during his Husky career. Last year, he was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America District VIII team and the Academic All-Pac-12 first team.

The Lott IMPACT Trophy, in its 14th year, named 20 quarterfinalist. In early November, the list will be narrowed to semifinalist and four finalists will be announced on Nov. 28. In 2014, Husky outside linebacker Hau'oli Kikaha was a finalist for the award.
