How it Happened: Senior Cormac Clissold and junior Thomas Laurent battled their way into the doubles semifinals opening the day with an 8-5 win over San Francisco's Johan Jonhagen and Mert Zincirli. The Duck duo squared off against seventh-seeded Dominic Baretto and Paul Baretto of California in the quarterfinals pulling off the win in a tiebreaker set 8-7(7).

The sophomore duo of Ty Gentry and Armando Soemarno attempted to join their teammates in the semifinals but fell short in the round of 16 to a Gonzaga pair 8-5.

UO's final doubles team of seniors Akihiro Tanaka and Stevens were forced to retire in their round of 16 match due to injury.

Stevens kept his tournament run alive in singles play picking up a 6-3, 6-4 win over Gonzaga's Sam Feit to reach Sunday's quarterfinals.

Gentry was not as fortunate in his round of 16 match falling to eighth-seeded Jacob Brumm of California 6-2, 6-4.

Clissold and junior Ethan Young-Smith recorded back-to-back wins in consolation play to reach the quarterfinals while Soemarno was forced to retire in his consolation match.

On Saturday's tournament play...
"It was another solid day for the Ducks, [Thomas Laurent] and [Cormac Clissold] are in the semis of the doubles bracket and [Simon Stevens] moved into the quarters after a very even and focused performance. Cormac and Ethan also picked up some good wins in singles play and we are looking forward to seeing what they can do tomorrow. Unfortunately, a couple of the guys had to retire as they struggled a bit physically. Even though [Ty Gentry] lost today, we as a coaching staff are very happy with the strides he has made this week stringing together several good efforts back-to-back."

Up Next: Clissold and Laurent will attempt to make the doubles finals Sunday morning, followed by Stevens in quarterfinal action.
