Ducks Take Squad of 64 To UCLA

Oregon's travel squad for Saturday's game as been thinned by some injuries, but left tackle Tyrell Crosby is on hand.

PASADENA, Calif. — Oregon's travel squad for Saturday's game at UCLA is smaller than usual, as the Ducks deal with some lingering injuries from last week's game at Stanford.

The good news, as the 1:07 p.m. kickoff on Pac-12 Network approaches, is the inclusion of senior left tackle Tyrell Crosby. The Outland Trophy candidate missed the second half at Stanford after experiencing concussion symptoms.

But fellow seven-game starter Jake Pisarcik and backup running back Tony Brooks-James, who also experienced concussion symptoms at Stanford, did not travel to Los Angeles. Nor did two regulars in the rotation up front defensively, lineman Scott Pagano and linebacker Jonah Moi.

The Ducks have three inside linebackers available Saturday, with starters Troy Dye and Jimmie Swain backed up by freshman Isaac Slade-Matautia. The Ducks have used 13 true freshmen already in 2017, and Slade-Matautia would be No. 14. Fellow true freshman Sampson Niu, who made his debut at midseason, did not travel due to a suspension for a violation of team rules, and former starter Blake Rugraff — who hasn't played on defense since being injured against Cal — did not make the trip to Los Angeles.

The other true freshmen on hand but yet to play this season are quarterback Demetri Burch, running back CJ Verdell, center Alex Forsyth and offensive lineman Ryan Walk.

In all, the Ducks brought 64 players south:
