Pac-12 Captures Dual Meet Win at USA College Challenge: Recap courtesy of USA Swimming

LOS ANGELES Familiar swimming stars from the Pac-12 Conference secured a 326.50-286.50 win over Team USA on Sunday to close out a two-day dual meet at the USA College Challenge.

Five-time Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky (Bethesda, Md./Stanford University) picked up two more individual wins in the 200- and the 1000-yard freestyle with times of 1:41.60 and 9:11.68, respectively, at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center. Click here for complete results from Los Angeles.

"The Pac-12 team really came together and supported each other," Ledecky said. "It was fun to see some Team USA teammates as well and race them, get up and have some fun in October."

Fellow Olympians Kathleen Baker (Winston-Salem, N.C./California) and Abbey Weitzeil (Saugus, Calif./California), along with National Team member Ella Eastin (Irvine, Calif./Stanford University) added big wins for the Pac-12 Conference.

Baker won the 100y back, Weitzeil topped the 50y free and Eastin finished first in the 200y fly. Baker and Eastin also tied for first place in the 200y IM, and both had three wins this weekend.

Team USA led a breaststroke sweep in both the womens and mens 100y race. Molly Hannis (Santa Rosa, Calif./Tennessee Aquatics) clocked a 57.69, making her the fifth-fastest female performer of all-time, while Nic Fink (Morristown, N.J./Athens Bulldog Swim Club) posted a 52.10 for the mens win.

Olympic gold medalist Tom Shields (Huntington Beach, Calif./California Aquatics) shined for Team USA, as he closed the weekend with four individual wins. He finished first in the 200y free with a time of 1:33.70 and in the 200y fly in 1:41.59.

Three other mens National Team members earned top finishes on Sunday. Josh Prenot (Santa Maria, Calif./California Aquatics) won the 200y IM, Zane Grothe (Boulder City, Nev./Badger Swim Club) paced a Team USA sweep in the mens 1000y free with a time of 8:45.71 and Michael Andrew (Lawrence, Kan./ Race Pace Club) won the 50y free.

Also winning on the collegiate side was Robert Glinta (Romania/University of Southern California) in the mens 200y back and Louise Hansson (Helsingborg, Sweden/University of Southern California) in the 100y fly.
