Trojans Tripped Up in South Bend USC drops to 6-2 on the season after losing to Notre Dame

The Fighting Irish took back possession of the Jeweled Shillelagh from the Trojans with a 49-14 win on Saturday night.

USC turned the ball over three times in the first half, allowing Notre Dame to build up a 28-0 lead at the break.

The Trojans came out strong in the second half, scoring on their first two possessions, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit.

Notre Dame entered the game as the nation's fifth-best rushing offense, and it lived up to the billing, going for 377 yards on the ground to USC's 76.

WR Deontay Burnett was one bright spot for the Trojans.

The junior racked up a game-high 113 receiving yards and a TD.

Watch the highlights of the game:

USC's four remaining regular season games are all Pac-12 matchups, which are key in the Trojans' quest for the conference championship.

The Trojans hit the road again to take on Arizona State this weekend before returning to the Coliseum to host Arizona for Homecoming on Nov. 4.

After that, they face Colorado on the road before closing out the season at home against UCLA on Nov. 18.
