STOCKTON, Calif. – Senior Cormac Clissold and junior Thomas Laurent made history Monday morning winning Oregon's first-ever ITA Northwest Regional doubles championship to automatically qualify for the ITA Fall Nationals.

Full results here.

How It Happened: For the second straight year, the Ducks found themselves vying for a doubles title at the northwest regionals, and for the second straight year the championship would be decided in extra sets.

The duo squared off against the top-seeded pair of Billy Griffith and JT Nishimura of California. The Pac-12 rivals are currently ranked 39th in the country.

Clissold and Laurent opened the match with a decisive 6-2 win in the first set, but the Golden Bear pair would not go quietly fighting back to send the second set into a tiebreaker. The Ducks were able to regroup and power through to take the match 6-2, 7-6(7).

What it Means: With their title win, Clissold and Laurent earn an automatic bid to this year's ITA Fall Nationals in Indian Wells, Calif., beginning Nov. 1. Laurent now has automatic bids in both the singles and doubles bracket at the ITA Fall Nationals.

On Clissold and Laurent's Championship win…
"Today was a great day for our entire team. Thomas and Cormac came out with great energy and played well from the start. The California team made a comeback in the second set, but we were able to execute when it mattered the most. The lads will enjoy this win for a short time and get ready for the ITA Fall Nationals. I know they are hungry for more."

Up Next: The Ducks will have the next week off before splitting up to play in the ITA Fall Nationals and the Gopher Invitational.
