NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament: Cal, Washington eliminated in first round

Nov 16, 2017

Two Pac-12 teams were in action on Thursday in the first round NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament.

California

After a scoreless first half, the Golden Bears got on the board first with a goal from Aravind Sivakumar. It was good timing for Sivakumar, who netted his first goal of the season in the 46th minute. Sam Ebstein had the assist.

But the University of San Francisco would claw their way back into it, tying it up just four minutes later on a goal from senior Bryce Kaminski. Sean Bowman put it away for the Dons in the 79th minute.

Cal finished the season with an 11-7 overall record.

Washington

The Huskies took it to overtime but eventually fell to Seattle 3-2.

Things started out right for UW, with Kyle Coffee getting them on the board in the 24th minute.

But Seattle netted a goal of its own just before halftime and took the lead on a goal from Sergio Rivas.

But the Dawgs weren't done yet. With just ten minutes left in regulation, Elijah Rice sent one to the back of the net to tie the game at 2-2.

Rice's goal was good enough to send the game to overtime, but Gabriel Ruiz sent one into the corner to end UW's season.
