LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- UCLA head women's beach volleyball coach Stein Metzger announced today the signing of Megan Muret (Encinitas, Calif./La Costa Canyon HS) to a National Letter of Intent. Muret will enter UCLA in the fall of 2017 as a freshman and will become a member of the 2018 women's beach volleyball team. She joins Jamie McQuarrie (Redwood City, Calif./La Costa Canyon HS) who signed on Nov. 11, 2016.

"Megan is a true student of the game and is already playing at an extremely high level in terms of accuracy and execution," Coach Metzger said. "She has excellent partnership skills, understands defensive game plans and will have an immediate impact on our program."

Muret, a 5-foot-9 product at La Costa Canyon High School, was part of the San Diego County Girls Beach Volleyball Championship squads as a freshman and sophomore. In 2015 she finished as the AAU Winter Power League Champions (both individual and club) and in 2016, she was the BVCA 18U Champions (both individual and club). Additionally, she finished in 5th place at the 2016 FIVB U19 World Championships in Cyprus.

She partnered with Alexis Filippone to win the USAV Beach High Performance U19 Trials in Manhattan Beach on May 22, 2016.

Muret said she chose to be a Bruin because, "It is an incredible academic opportunity and the beach volleyball program is amazing. I love the culture of UCLA and I feel like I will really fit in."
