Race for Pac-12 Women's Basketball regular season title heats up

• For the first time since mid-January, OREGON has company at the top of the Pac-12 standings, STANFORD and UCLA picking up key wins over the weekend to make it a three-way tie. With just three weeks of the season remaining, the top-five teams in the Pac-12 are separated by just two games.

• Two Pac-12 teams in the top 10 highlights five league teams in the Associated Press top 25 and four in the USA Today/WBCA Coaches poll. UCLA leads the Conference at No. 8/7 and Oregon is No. 9/10. It is the 13th-straight top-10 ranking for the Ducks, while the Bruins are back in it since the December 4 polll.

• Also in the polls this week are No. 16/16 OREGON STATE, No. 17/21 STANFORD and ARIZONA STATE is ranked No. 15 by the writers. CALIFORNIA is receiving votes in both polls.

• Stanford’s Brittany McPhee was named USBWA and ESPNW National Player of the Week after leading the Cardinal to a pair of top-25 wins, as well as putting it in a tie for first place. She was also tabbed the Pac-12 Player of the Week. Her teammate Kiana Williams was voted Pac-12 Freshman of the Week.

• Several national watch lists announced its midseason candidates and Pac-12 players were among those listed including UCLA’s Monique Billings and OSU’s Marie Gulich (Lisa Leslie Award); Cal’s Kristine Anigwe and Oregon’s Ruthy Hebard (Katrina McClain); and Sabrina Ionescu of Oregon and Jordin Canada of UCLA (Nancy Leiberman).

• Eight league games will be televised on Pac-12 Networks, highlighted by a top-25 matchup between ASU and UCLA on Sunday afternoon. Heading into the weekend, the Bruins own the Conference’s longest active win streak at eight games, while ASU has won its last three.

• In the NCAA’s second of three top-16 reveals, the Ducks and Bruins were again among the teams listed. If the season ended on Feb. 1, Oregon would have been the No. 5 overall seed and UCLA would have been the No. 10 seed.
