UCLA, Utah go head-to-head in a matchup of undefeated #Pac12Gym squads

• This week’s Pac-12 gymnastics schedule is highlighted by a marquee matchup between two powerhouses: No. 3 UTAH vs. No. 2 UCLA on Sunday at 5 p.m. PT/ 6 p.m. MT, televised live on Pac-12 Networks as the "Meet of the Week." The two programs are undefeated in Pac-12 play with the match-up in Los Angeles determining who has the leg up for Conference supremacy.
 
• Another six Conference squads take action on Saturday beginning with No. 13 WASHINGTON at No. 17 ARIZONA STATE, followed by No. 24 ARIZONA at No. 11 OREGON STATE and rounded out by a battle in the Bay with No. 23 CALIFORNIA traveling to No. 25 STANFORD.
 
• All eight Pac-12 teams are ranked in the top 25 in the country this week, led by No. 2 UCLA and No. 3 Utah. Following in the national rankings are Oregon State, Washington, Arizona State, California, Arizona, and Stanford who rank 11, 13, 17, 23, 24, and 25, respectively.
 
• Arizona jumped one spot in the rankings after earning their first win of the season last weekend against Stanford. The Cats topped the Cardinal 195.725 to 195.025, led by their three seniors; Madison Cindric, Victoria Ortiz, and Kennady Schneider, who all earned a 9.850 or higher on their respective events during their Senior Night.
 
• Cal also rose in the national poll after posting a season-high 197.225, the third-highest total in school history, in their loss to UCLA (197.750) last Saturday. The Bears matched the program-record 49.350 beam total, and tallied a 49.400 on vault for the second-highest score on the event in school history. Cal saw career-high performances in 13 of 24 individual routines, led by Toni-Ann Williams who took home gold on floor (tie, 9.900) and in the all-around (39.600). Bruin gymnasts received first place in four events, led by Pac-12 Specialist of the Week, Napualani Hall, who earned the first vault title of her career and took home two event titles.
 
• Utah’s MyKayla Skinner earned Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week honors for the third time this season and a Pac-12-record 10th of her career after winning every apparatus and the all-around in the Utes’ victory against Arizona State last Friday. Her five wins brought her season victory total to a team-high 17. She also picked up her 16th career all-around win, which ranks fourth all-time at Utah.

 PAC-12 GYMNASTICS WEEKLY HONORS
GYMNAST OF THE WEEK: MyKayla Skinner, SO, Utah (Gilbert, Ariz.)
•  Claimed third Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week honor this season, the 10th of her career, surpassing the Pac-12 record of nine which was previously set by UCLA’s Vanessa Zamarripa (2009-13). 
•  Won all four events and the all-around in the No. 3 Utes’ 197.075-195.400 victory over No. 17 Arizona State last week. Scored a season-high 9.950 on floor, a 9.925 on bars, 9.900 on vault and beam, and a 39.675 in the all-around to raise her season victory total to 17 and career total to 60. 
•  Her 16 career all-around wins ranks fourth in Utah school history in the event.
•  Currently ranked No. 2 in the nation in the all-around (39.596), tied for fourth on vault (9.917), and tied for the #5 spot in the nation on bars (9.908).
 
SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK: Napualani Hall, SR, UCLA (Kansas City, Mo.)
•  Earned first vault title of her career with a career-high-tying 9.950, sticking her laid-out Yurchenko 1.5 for the third-straight meet.
• Led the Bruins to a 197.750-197.225 win over Cal, taking home titles in two events; the most event wins by a Bruin in the meet. 
• Recorded a career-high 9.900 on floor exercise in her season debut in the event, tying for first place in the meet.
• Ranked in the top 25 in the nation for the first time this season, placing No. 11 (tie) for her debut performance on floor.
 
FRESHMAN / NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK: Kyla Bryant, FR, Stanford (Lake Oconee, Georgia)
• Won first all-around title of her career with a score of 39.400 in No. 25 Stanford’s 195.725-195.025 loss to No. 24 Arizona on Sunday. 
• Also finished second on bars (9.825), tied for second on floor (9.850) and tied for fifth on vault (9.850) in the meet.
• Her 9.875 on balance beam, which matched teammates’ Rachael Flam and Lauren Navarro’s efforts, helped the Cardinal post a season-high 49.325 in the event.
• Led Stanford’s squad in scoring on bars, beam, and in the all-around against the Cats.

 GYMNASTICS ON PAC-12 NETWORKS
Pac-12 Networks, now in its sixth season of unprecedented coverage of Pac-12 sports, will air 25 women’s gymnastics meets this season, including a “Meet the Bruins” preview. All eight Pac-12 schools will appear on the Networks at least three times: Arizona (3), Arizona State (4), California (5), Oregon State (7), Stanford (4), UCLA (7), Utah (7) and Washington (4). Both sessions of the 2018 Pac-12 Women’s Gymnastics Championships will be televised live nationally on Pac-12 Network on Saturday, Mar. 24 at McKale Memorial Center in Tucson, Arizona.
