STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford was well represented with 16 varsity programs earning perfect 1,000 multi-year scores in the annual edition of Academic Progress Rate (APR) statistics released Wednesday by the NCAA.

The 16 Cardinal programs (10 women's, six men's) checked in with scores of 1,000 for the multi-year rate, which measures data collected over a span of four academic years, beginning with 2012-13.

Basketball, fencing, tennis, track and field, water polo and wrestling accounted for the male sports. Also recognized were fencing, field hockey, softball, basketball, beach volleyball, golf, gymnastics, tennis, volleyball and water polo among the women's spots.

Men's basketball was the lone Pac-12 Conference program to earn a 1,000 multi-year score, while the Cardinal women's hoops team was one of two conference teams with a perfect score.

Football's 985 multi-year score was second among Pac-12 programs and ranked among the top-15 FBS programs nationally.

The APR is an annual scorecard showcasing academic achievement each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete. The APR includes eligibility, retention and graduation in the calculation and provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport. High-performing teams receiving awards posted APR scores ranging from 977 to a perfect 1,000.

The APR uses a series of formulas related to student-athlete retention and eligibility to measure the academic performances of all participants who receive grants-in-aid on every team at every NCAA Division I college and university.
