7 Pac-12 Women's Tennis teams reach 2022 NCAA Championship

SAN FRANCISCO - Seven Pac-12 Women's Tennis teams were selected to the 64-team field for the 2022 NCAA Championship with regular-season champion CALIFORNIA and tournament champion STANFORD securing hosting duties for the early rounds.

The seven NCAA selections equal the most for the Pac-12 over the past decade (2022, 2019, 2017).

CALIFORNIA (16-7) earned the No. 11 overall seed and will host a first- and second-round pod May 7-8 with Northern Arizona, Texas Tech and LMU. STANFORD (17-5) received the No. 15 seed and will welcome Southeast Missouri State, UC Santa Barbara and Kansas. 

USC (17-11) is headed to Malibu, Calif., for a pod hosted by No. 8 seed Pepperdine. UCLA (12-6) will travel to Stillwater, Okla., for No. 12 seed Oklahoma State’s pod, while ARIZONA STATE (16-7) will travel to Norman, Okla., for a pod hosted by No. 2 seed Oklahoma.

The Cardinal and Bruins have now appeared in all 40 NCAA Championship events dating to 1982, while the Golden Bears have appeared in 39, the Trojans in 37 and Sun Devils in 36.

The two remaining Pac-12 teams will head to Texas - OREGON (15-8) to Austin for a pod hosted by No. 4 seed Texas, and WASHINGTON (14-11) to College Station for No. 7 seed Texas A&M’s pod.

First- and second-round competition takes place May 6-7 or 7-8 and features four teams playing in a single-elimination format. The winner of each site advances to super-regional competition May 13 or 14. Each super-regional site will feature two teams playing a single-elimination format. The super-regional winners advance to the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex in Champaign, Ill., where the eight teams will compete for the NCAA national championship May 20-22. The event will be hosted by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
